Grass in the yard got very tall due to my illness has prevented me from trimming and weeding. The grass in the yard went to seed and all the seeds fell in my garden and that has caused grass to grow in my flowers. I have many wonderful plants and don’t want to damage them by digging them up. Also, because of the plants, I can’t spray with a grass and weed killer. Another problem, there are fireant hills in many areas of the flower beds…please help with ideas.

Has any one ever heard of putting newspaper in your flower garden to prevent weeds?

Last year, my flower garden had so many weeds, I couldn’t stand it. I heard some where that if you put newspaper down first and then water it and then cover that with mulch, that the newspaper will prevent weeds from growing. Is that true? Is there a certain way you have to do it? Any input would be nice.

Is there a product that a person can spray in the a flower garden to kill weeds without killing the flowers?

My gardener just planted flowers in front of my house, but he didn’t put plastic or mulch down first…now, weeds are popping up everywhere and it would take forever to pull them all. So, I’m curious…is there a product that can be sprayed in areas like that where the flowers are close together without harming the flowers?
