Flower Garden Planting & Maintenance

I have quite a large yard that is mostly grass but want to create flower gardens in a few areas. I’ve read that salt kills grass but will I still have to pull up the dead grass in order to start my garden?? Also, will the salt destroy the soil beneath the grass??? Thanks for your answers. I’ve heard of using dog urine to deter rabbits from a flower garden or dog hair but since I have no way of collecting my dogs urine and he doesn’t shed, can I use his droppings to keep rabbits out of my flower gardens?

Ive used black pepper,ive hidden to try and catch them and of course they dont do it till the minute im gone.If i do ,on a rare occation;ill yell and chase them off.They know imediently they are in for it and sounter off.One is a great Dane almost 2yrs and the other is a black Lab about 3-4mths old.Im ready to turn them into fertilizer! HELP!
We live on ten akers.they run and play all day either wiyh us,eachother,or the horse.I know its probly becouse there isnt any shadeclose to the house, so they want to cool off,even though they usually go to the pond for that too.I just want them to stop.Oh ill nver really get rid of them i love em!

I just put down some mulch and they keep digging it up. My husband used to use the good old 22 but I can’t stand to shoot them. Thanks for the help.

I’ve planted a bunch of “spreading” plants and flowers. I deciced to use pea gravel instead of mulch. Will the pea gravel prohibit the spreading of the plants??

I live on a farm and we have barn cats. They love to use my flower beds as their “litter box”. Eww! Aside from that just being gross, they stir up the mulch and make a general mess of things. I don’t want to harm the cats but I do want them OUT of my flower gardens! Any ideas?

I have managed to plant 3 miniture rose bushes but I am amazed that they are still living because I haven’t taken good care of them. I have two nice areas to plant flowers but there are a lot of small rocks in there. That I think is what is really stopping me. I have a lot of health issues and it is hard for me to get down and pick all those rocks out. I just love petunias, tulips and lilies but until I can tackle this I will never have a garden. I know it is too late this year, can anyone tell me where I begin and how to do it? I want you to know I appreciate your answers in advance.
