I have quite a large yard that is mostly grass but want to create flower gardens in a few areas. I’ve read that salt kills grass but will I still have to pull up the dead grass in order to start my garden?? Also, will the salt destroy the soil beneath the grass??? Thanks for your answers. I live in Alabama and I am wanting to plant my spring flowers. I have a flower bed in the front of my house that runs about 3-4′. I want to fill it with a plant that blooms in the spring but that also keeps good greenary well into early fall. Do you know of a plant that does this?

The ower of the house before me put red lava rock down right before I moved in. I was planting in the flower bed and noticed the Chiggers. I want to get rid of them without killing my plants, does anyone know what is best to use? I also have pets and children, so I would prefer something that isn’t quite so toxic, if possible.

Hey Everyone!

I am moving to a new house in the next couple weeks and noticed that the previous tenants had a small flower bed in the front of the condo.

I have never planted my own garden before, only helped my mom. What is the best way to do it? Should I plants seeds or potted plants?

Also what are some suggestions for easy growing purple, pink, yellow & white flowers? can you grow gerber daisies?

Your help would be appreciated, I’m pretty clueless when it comes to this stuff!! Thanks!
