Bre21 asked: i live in Nevada. I have no clue whatsoever on how to take care of a lawn let alone plant flowers but i know i want to learn being this as our first house with a backyard.
Pretty decent size i’d estimate around 25×15. The grass is totally dead (if any at all) at the moment but the owners are planning on resodding it for us.
So any tips or websites on how to care for it and what types of flowers to choose for Nevada’s climate.?? Really want something low-maintenence.

I want to plant perenials this year but dont know where to start. I’m new at growing flowers outside and want easy to maintain, beautiful, hearty flowers that can withstand the north-west region( pictures and websites would be a plus).

Need2Know asked:
I have quite a large yard that is mostly grass but want to create flower gardens in a few areas. I’ve read that salt kills grass but will I still have to pull up the dead grass in order to start my garden?? Also, will the salt destroy the soil beneath the grass??? Thanks for your answers. Much appreciated.

I do have some grubs (I have seen them). I also have noticed “holes” in some of my plants. I guess some sort of insect is doing that. I would like “cheaper” methods if possible.

bearlyhere_2000 asked:
Grass in the yard got very tall due to my illness has prevented me from trimming and weeding. The grass in the yard went to seed and all the seeds fell in my garden and that has caused grass to grow in my flowers. I have many wonderful plants and don’t want to damage them by digging them up. Also, because of the plants, I can’t spray with a grass and weed killer. Another problem, there are fireant hills in many areas of the flower beds…please help with ideas.
