How can I plant flowers in a wire deck planter?

planting flowers
Chatti-Patti asked:

I would like to plant flowers in a wire deck planter that is about 32″ long, 5″ wide and about 4″ high. I usually place several small pots in it, but I would rather plant directly in the planter. Any suggestions? Thanks for any help

Get some spagnum moss, soak in water, line planter tightly, cut a piece of plastic to size of inside os planter, poke a lot of drain holes in plastic, put in a good soil and plant your flowers.Should work,I did it in a hanging thing this year so far so good.

agree with Hippy…. don’t skip the plastic part… but use the soil with the water holding beads, too… and some fertilizer that is either in the soil or is granulated slow release bloom food….. and add a mulch to the top of the soil!!.. a finely shredded pine bark or compost would be dandy!!….
