My yard, particularly my backyard, is always moist. Even if there has been no rain for months. If there’s a heavy rain, I have muddy marshy puddles everywhere. Step in the wrong spot and you’re likely to end up with your entire leg in the ground. (That happened to me twice) I’d like to begin lanscaping, but what types of flowers and plants can I use that will survive?

The flower bed is just filled up with dirt, weeds, and little pcs of rock. First I need to clean it out I guess but do I use the dirt that’s already in there or do put soil down? If you want to know, I live in Charlotte, NC (Zone 7). I want to plant perennial flowers. Should I cover the bed with plastic and cut holes then plant the flowers? If so, after the flowers are planted, should I put something (bark perhaps?) on top of the plastic? Will the plastic provide too much moisture and destroy the roots of this particular flower? Do I need to mix potting soil with the dirt in my bed? Again, this is my first flower bed and I need instruction. Do you know anything about this particualr kind of flower? Your responses will be deeply appreciated.

We are putting flower beds in front of the house and there is one area (4ft.) wide that stays muddy-wet all the time. We would like to have a pretty flowering bush, shrub, or plant/flowers to put there. What grows good in wet, very wet soil? It is also full sun most of the day and very hot!

Sooo after all day i got the black rubber thing around the tree put the steaks in so that it stays in place. I put down 2 bags of top soil and now i have to go get more! It was close to impossible to get rid of the grass around the tree so i put the top soil over My friend says that the grass will grow through the top soil so what are my options i heard you can put a tarp and lay the soil over it? Please help I ready to jst give up
