Roundup weed killer acts by the leaf absorbing the poison and taking it to the roots.

I would wait a couple of weeks to plant new plants, water well each day prior to wash away the poison.

The label should give more information.

According to what I have read in the past, you can plant within 24 hours. It should say on the container.

RoundUp goes thru the leaves, down the stem and into the roots. Works best in hot weather, winter takes about a week to kill a weed.

2 weeks according to the label.
