I recently moved to southern Germany and I want to plant some flowers on my balcony porch thing. My only problem is that I don’t know what flowers I can grow in this climate at this time of year, nor can I find a website in English (since I don’t speak/read German enough to make any sense of it) that helps me out.

So, what can I grow where I live? I would prefer to plant flowers, but I can go for herbs and other things like that too.

I want to put a flower garden in the yard in front of my house, but I’m not sure what I would be able to use. Since that side of the house faces the west, it doesn’t get sunlight until the afternoon. I’ve looked around at a few different green houses to get some ideas, but all I find is plants that require full sun. I would like to get flowers or small shrubs or maybe even some climbing flowers. I have managed to plant 3 miniture rose bushes but I am amazed that they are still living because I haven’t taken good care of them. I have two nice areas to plant flowers but there are a lot of small rocks in there. That I think is what is really stopping me. I have a lot of health issues and it is hard for me to get down and pick all those rocks out. I just love petunias, tulips and lilies but until I can tackle this I will never have a garden. I know it is too late this year, can anyone tell me where I begin and how to do it? I want you to know I appreciate your answers in advance.

I have my first house and I get to plant flowers! I’m so excited! I bought some flowers and I have planted them. I have a feeling I am supposed to be doing more though. I mean I just dug a hole in the ground, put the plant in, tried to break up the “bulb”, covered it with dirt, patted the dirt, watered and moved on. Do I need to fertilize? Should I have used special dirt? Any tips or good websites to visit? I have many more plants to plant as our landscaping stinks.
