I have a 6×4 septic lid that is flush with the ground I am planning to plant flowers on top of. I plan on covering the lid with soil and planting herbaceous flowers on top, since nothing else is safe to plat near a septic. If this works, how thick should I make the soil and will the flowers be able to survive? I figure annuals may, but will it be enough for perennials?

Our warm weather turning bitter cold, When to plant my flowers?
Dawn asked:
It has been very warm for the past 2-3 weeks. Today is was in the 80’s. Very sunny and beautiful. So I bought 2 bushes I think they are called “Roderdimdrum” (spelling is probably off) and I also bought tons of Panzys and a few other delicate flowers. I was planning on planting them tomorrow but the forecast says we are in for a very cold cool down. The tempertures are supose to drop to 30 degrees by day friday and 25 degrees by night. They even say we may get some snow flurry and frost.

Should I hold off planting my plants/flowers?
If so can I keep them indoors?
If I plant them now would they likely die from the cold or could I cover them with plastic?
Any answers will be great. Thanks
