my flower garden is in trouble, please help?

flower gardens
stew asked:

I have tried everything to save and protect my gerber daisies, but grasshoppers and snails continue to eat and kill them. I put a snail and all insect insecticide on all of my plants, yet the gerbers were eaten anyway! Anyone have any suggestions on how i can save my flower garden? If you can help, i would appreciate it because this is my first attempt at gardening and I am getting frustrated and I can use all the tips I can get. I am sure I have a lot to learn.

it sounds like snails/slugs. try using deadline, make circles around every plant in your flowerbed.

Get marigold plants to go around the Gerber Daisies, also try some salt around the plant to keep the snails away. Beer works too.

insecticides should have stopped them you could try beer traps for snails you could try rotenone for grasshoppers and slugs put on in evening when there is no rain in the forcast.

Put a small circle of dehyrogenated lime away from the plant about 10 inches away. It won,t burn your plant at this distance but will definitely fry anything else getting close. Just try not to water the lime into the ground to close to the plants or they will burn. Other than that precaution you should be good to go. Also shredded pepper flakes do good also against bugs. Hot pepper flakes. These you can put close.
